The Benninghofen House

This home was built in the 1890s for Christian Benninghofen, prominent industrialist & partner in Shuler & Benninghofen Woolen Mills. It is one of the few remaining homes known to have been designed by Hamilton’s first architect- Max Reutti. The exterior is an excellent example of turn-of-the-century Free Classic Queen Anne style, it includes elaborate chimneys, slate-covered conical top turret, & stone lintels above the windows. The interior features an oak library, parquet floors, an elaborate staircase, & 9 fireplaces.

Today, The Benninghofen House operates as a boutique hotel, offering short-term vacation rentals, tiny weddings, yoga and massage.
