Impressive History

Nestled near the heart of Hamilton, within walking distance of its revitalized downtown, is the Dayton Lane Historic District. From the 1870s until the 1890s, the area became the neighborhood of choice for Hamilton’s industrial barons who sought to out-build one another. Their contests resulted in a diverse set of styles and over 200 impressive homes passersby still marvel at today.

Neighborhood Meetings

The Dayton Lane Historic District holds monthly neighborhood meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 7 PM at 644 High Street (Vision Source Hamilton). This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors, voice your concerns, and get involved in local initiatives. We encourage everyone to attend and participate in shaping the future of our neighborhood.

A True Neighborhood

Wonderfully restored and beautifully maintained, the neighborhood remains a place for Hamilton’s movers and shakers. It is populated by passionate people who love history as much as they love Hamilton and each other. Walk this neighborhood anytime and you will likely see neighbors gathering together or greeting each other on beautiful porches or balconies.

Dedicated to Preservation

Dedicated to preserving the history and beauty of the neighborhood, residents are responsible for the public spaces in the district. The Annual May Promenade and Ghost Walk help fund the neighborhood’s efforts to maintain Campbell Avenue Park and various shared spaces around the neighborhood.

Exterior changes made to buildings, outbuildings, landscapes, or other exterior features are subject to review and approval of Hamilton City’s Architectural Design Review Board, please visit their website for additional information.
